Minamoto no Chikayoshi (源近善)

MINAMOTO no Chikayoshi (year of birth unknown - August 28, 918) was shisei kozoku (member of the Imperial Family conferred with a family name) in the early Heian period. He was the Minamoto clan. He was the son of Emperor Koko but his mother is unknown. He was a paternal half-brother of Emperor Uda. His children included Muneumi and Moronao.

In March 870, he was conferred with a family name of Minamoto and demoted from nobility to subject. In December 877, he rose to the rank of Jugoinoge (Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade) from Shorokuinojo (Senior Sixth Rank, Upper Grade) and became the governor of Shinano Province. In June 884, he rose to the rank of Jushiijo (Junior Fourth Rank, Upper Grade) upon the enthronement of his father Imperial Prince Tokiyasu as Emperor Koko. In July 884, he was conferred with a family name again and designated to the Sakyo Ichijo district with his brothers and sisters to become a chief. In May 887, he became the governor of Echizen Province. In 911, he was awarded the rank of Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank). He later held the office of Jibusho (the Ministry of Civil Administration). He died on August 28, 918.
